Our Story


Celebrated mixologist Jeff Josenhans had a dream of turning craft cocktails into a bottled, sparkling beverage reminiscent of Champagne. With his renowned success in the Food & Beverage Industry, Jeff pitched his concept to the industry leading brewers, winemakers and distillers of our day. All of them said that what he wanted to do could not be done. Jeff was disappointed but not deterred.

As luck would have it, Jeff met Chris Johnston, a distinguished winemaker, at a private event in famed La Jolla, California. Jeff shared his idea with Chris and how he was told it couldn’t be done. Well, that primed the wheels in Chris’s ‘mad scientist’ brain. Before long Chris earned federal approval for perfecting the proprietary process of infusing craft cocktails with the traditional champagne method. Jeff and Chris began production as Cocktail Sur Lie (CSL) and their sparkling wine cocktails earned multiple awards, with featured articles in many notable publications.

The good luck continued as Jeff and Chris were introduced to Jag Asher, a strategic planner and operations expert. Collectively, the three partnered together to expand the reach of CSL with the launch of BARACHÉ. Its meaning of “destiny & luck” certainly applies as it was “BARACHÉ” that guided Jeff and Chris to push past the words of “it couldn’t be done”. As “destiny” would have it, you can now grab a BARACHÉ’ and join the celebration of “beating the odds.” Cheers to you finding your BARACHÉ’ moment.
